During the great depression, people went to the movies to escape the difficulties of real life.  Film makers responded with some of the highest quality and most entertaining movies ever made.  They continued through the 40s when our country and the world were in the throws of the second world war.  Movies let us get lost in new worlds and experiences.  Some were comedies, some were thrillers.  There were musicals and film noir.  Most movies had happy endings, others a shocking twist.

The era of classic movies introduced us to movie icons, both actors and directors; James Stewart, Bette Davis, Cary Grant, Joan Crawford, Billy Wilder, Frank Capra, just to name a few.

These movies extended beyond the 40s as well.  We'll be discussing movies of the 50s, 60s and beyond.

I hope I can show today's generations, young and old, the magic and power of some of those cinematic masterpieces.  And I hope you find as much joy in them as I have.
